Don’t Be Afraid of the Dentists

October 6, 2016April 9, 2024 #beWellUGA, about uhc, dental health

A note from the staff of UHC Dental Clinic…

Even though we’re approaching Halloween, you won’t scare us. And we won’t scare you!

We have seen many patients who have never been to the dentist before, and many more who have a true fear of “the dentist” (dun…dun…dun…). But we want you to know that there is nothing to fear and that you should never feel embarrassed to come see us! We will do everything in our power to allay your fears, make you feel at ease, and resolve your dental issues.

Jackie is a UHC Dental Assistant & a huge fan of Hairy Dawg!

We only recommend treatment that we would recommend for ourselves or our family members. This includes encouraging you to receive a second opinion if you would like to. We’ll gladly give you the x-ray(s) to take along.

We treat patients the way we want our children to be treated. We are compassionate and sympathetic to your situation.

And we don’t judge – even if there is damage to your teeth related to neglect or poor decisions. Everyone has been there! We won’t lecture and get on you about what you have or have not done regarding your oral health. Instead, we will educate and provide you tips for better care in the future.

If you do need extensive treatment for many cavities, broken teeth, or other issues, please don’t think you are the only patient who does. And do not get overwhelmed. We have seen many patients in your situation and will work with you, taking it one step at a time. Click here to learn more about our team.

And if you don’t want to take our word for it, check out what some of our patients have to say! These are just a few quotes from one of our recent surveys (sent electronically to patients after dental appointments):

“The entire team put me at total ease. Very light-hearted and very gentle. Will be back for a six month check up.”
“The staff is really nice and helpful. Made me feel really comfortable.”
“This was a wonderful and very helpful staff that made me feel comfortable and safe in their care. They were efficient and thorough.”
“Very friendly, really tried to explain the ‘why’ behind every action taken.”
“I have been a patient at the dental clinic for 4 years, and I continue to be blown away by how caring and professional the staff are.”

To schedule an appointment at the UHC Dental Clinic, please call 706.542.8700. After your first appointment, regular cleanings can be scheduled online at www.uhs.uga.edu.
