UGA University Health Center Awarded Joint Commission Accreditation
In June 2025, UGA’s University Health Center (UHC) again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Ambulatory Health Care Accreditation. The UHC has maintained this prestigious certification for almost 30 years.

In order to maintain accreditation, The UHC underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review in Spring 2025. During the three-day visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with standards spanning several areas including environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management, and quality improvement practices. The surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews with staff and patients.
The onsite inspections occur every three years, and are based on standards developed in consultation with health care providers and quality measurement experts that help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance.
Dr. Martha Dannenbaum, executive director for the UHC said, “We at the University Health Center strive to provide the highest quality of care to UGA students. The Joint Commission accreditation recognizes that high level of care, and sets the bar high, ensuring we continually focus on patient safety and quality improvement efforts.”
